Robert Lewandowski had a good start to the season, scoring a goal in the round in a 1-1 draw away against Gladbach. A few days later, he added two more helping Bayern to win another Supercup title. The match against Borussia Dortmund showed that Bayern is more than capable to score from a limited number of chances. Once again, Bavarians got a trophy they wanted as the first one in a Nagelsmann era but that was also a statement for the rivals that they are a class above the rest of the Bundesliga. They are still without a couple of defensive players so Nagelsmann didn’t change much. For the next match, it is unsure if Neuer will be on the team because of the ankle injury.
Even without the best keepers in this era, Bayern is far above Koln, mostly because of Lewandowski’s scoring abilities. The Polish striker is unbeaten in 15 Bundesliga meetings with Koln with just only one draw and scoring 14 goals. Niklas Süle played well along with Dayot Upamecano in central defense as they are forming more than a good partnership. The only player that looks out of form is winger Leroy Sane who should begin in the place of injured Coman. Bayern is without home loss in the last 27 games in the Bundesliga.

Koln has started well enough, even with conceding a goal against Hertha in the sixth minute. A 3-1 win at home against a classy team from Berlin gave them an important confidence boost for the upcoming games. The problem is, the next match is against Bayern, who won 13 from 14 last games against them in the Bundesliga. New coach Steffen Baumgart will have a tougher task on Sunday because they beat Bayern 3-2 in a friendly earlier this summer, and Koln players celebrated that win like they were getting a trophy. Bavarians made some remarks because of that and they will do their best to seek vengeance.
Florian Kainz scored two goals against Hertha, Baumgart formed a new midfield so team captain Jonas Hector will play at the left-back again. Koln is a hard-working team and that will be their trademark in the new season. To step further from the relegation zone they must find a way to score more goals and with returning of Anthony Modeste they will have extra quality, players who are capable to create something out of nothing. Sebastian Andersson will switch to his more familiar substitute role, so Koln probably has better individual quality than in the last season.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious.
