They won on the opening day, away against West Ham (0-2), then lost at home to Brighton (0-3), and drew with Tottenham in London (1-1). MATCH ANALYSIS
After a last-ditch penalty controversy against Tottenham, where Newcastle didn't do much in the game and were too cautious, they bounced back against Burnley at home. Saint-Maximin was a threat throughout as he scored and set up Callum Wilson for another. Newcastle had won just 1 of their past 8 home league games prior to Burnley's arrival at St James' Park and apart from a short spell after the break, the Magpies put in a commanding performance.
Matt Ritchie, Necastle midfielder, who is facing a lengthy absence as he is set to have a shoulder operation, and Dwight Gayle with knee injury are ruled out for the match while the star of the last match, Saint-Maximin is being assessed after suffering an ankle injury. Another blow for Solskjaer will be the absence of Martial who is suspended for the trip to St.james'. The Red Devils definitely need to pick up their game for the Saturday's visit to Newcastle if they don't want to start chasing the pack already.
