The game kicks off at 8.15pm (UK) when Southampton host Brighton on Thursday 16 July at St.Mary's Stadium.
Southampton robbed Manchester United off three points on Monday, scoring deep in the stoppage time, to dent their Champions League hopes. It shouldn't come as a surprise, as they are in fine form of their own. Coming into the match against Brighton, they are undefeated in the last four Premier League games (W2,D2). Their home form, though, doesn't tell the same story, as they won two and lost three games in last five home fixtures.
Brighton are still in a relegation battle, but in 15th place, with 36 points, they look safe for now. They have taken three points only from bottom fodder Norwich in their last five games, losing three and drawing one in that time. However, their last defeat on the road was in January at the hands of Bournemouth (3:1). Since then, they haven't lost an away game in the Premier League (W1,D4).
SOUTHAMPTON VS BRIGHTON MATCH ANALYSIS
The Saints deserved a point from the Old Trafford. They were very good and aggressive from the start, and didn't let the game pass by them, even when Manchester were seemingly winning. Southampton's position at the PL table, may not best reflect their performance this season. They are often brave, and try to play on the front foot against top-shelf teams. Their manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl knows that once they start trying sucking in the pressure, the individual quality is not going to be on their side.
While most of their head-to-head matches against Brighton ended in draws (D3,W2,L1), the late equalizer against Manchester United, will surely spur them on in this match. They are safe in the 12th place, and even if they are too far from European qualification spots, the manager will want more of the same as against the Red Devils.
Brighton faced the PL champions and the runners-ups in back-to-back games. They showed grit against Liverpool (3:1), and suffered their worst Premier League defeat this season at the weekend to Manchester City (0:5). But Graham Potter understands that their safety wasn't depending on getting a result against Man City or Liverpool.
They are five points ahead of Bournemouth and six ahead of Aston Villa, respectively. They now have to brush those defeats off, and concentrate on the next three games. They need five more points from the remaining fixtures to be mathematically certain of staying up in top-flight.

Southampton won't change much in the game plan. They will look to have a flying start and impose their style on the opponent. Ralph Hasenhuttl's is too strict of a manager to let his squad relax and loosen up a bit. Not having too much to play for, will not be on the Saint's agenda when Brighton visit.
On the other hand, Brighton will try to get something from this game, but their approach will be more cautious. They, though, will be satisfied with a goalless draw.
