Werder Bremen's attack needs to prove his worth against Augsburg on Saturday.
Since beating Augsburg 3-2 on Matchday 3 of last season, Bremen have won only two of their last 22 home matches in the Bundesliga. The most influential Werder striker Josh Sargent has not scored in the league since the Matchday 6 1-1 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt - although he has had a hand in five goals in all competitions so far this season. The 20-year-old American started in attack alongside Manchester United loanee Tahith Chong last Saturday, although both were subbed off in the 1-1 draw at Bayer Leverkusen with Ömer Toprak scoring the goal that ultimately secured a share of the points.
Coach Florian Kohfeldt had previously said that he couldn't imagine a Bremen starting XI without Sargent, although the return to fitness of Niclas Füllkrug does at least give him food for thought. Bremen have only won one of their previous 22 games at the Weserstadion, although they remain just two places and four points worse off than Augsburg in mid-table, with an eight-point cushion on the automatic relegation places.

Augsburg has won 11 of their 19 points so far this season away from home. They've also won each of their last two matches on the road 1-0. Three away wins in a row would match a Bundesliga record for Augsburg, dating back to a run last made between 2014 and 2015. Augsburg has rather blown hot and cold this season, although Heiko Herrlich's recent switch to three at the back, including former England youth international Reece Oxford, looked to be a positive change - at least until last weekend. Augsburg is the only team in the Bundesliga this season yet to have scored in the first 30 minutes of a match.
Captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw was suspended for Sunday's visit of VfB Stuttgart and with Rani Khedira plugging a gap at center-back, they were beaten 4-1. Oxford could make way for Robert Gumny if Herrlich reverts to four at the back, while the shape of the defense could also shape things further forward, with Andre Hahn happier as a wide option than Michael Gregoritsch.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious.
